Stronghold Engineering, Inc. today announced it has achieved Platinum level in Associated Builders and Contractors’ STEP Safety Management System. Founded more than three decades ago, STEP is a proven system that provides the framework to measure, strengthen and build industry-leading safety programs that enable top-performing ABC members to achieve incident rates nearly seven times safer than the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics construction industry average.
“I am ecstatic at our team’s achievement of safe practices over last year. We had an awesome year free of incidents. It is a testament to our company’s culture and our core values, which include Safety as one of our key principles. Our greatest achievement is always creating a safe work environment for our team members. It takes our entire team to look out for one another, act safely in everything we do and reward those that are actively engaged in safe work practices. Go Team Stronghold!” – Beverly Bailey, President/CEO of Stronghold Engineering, Inc.
There are many key safety priorities and practices that can be noted, to name a few, our team is actively engaged in safety toolbox talks on the jobsite, our team holds monthly corporate safety meetings with a large team of individuals spanning across the company to discuss safety across the company and any ways that we may be able to implement to improve our safe work practices, as well as many others. Stronghold is proud of it’s safety achievements.
STEP participants measure their safety processes and policies on key components through a detailed questionnaire with the goal of implementing or enhancing health and safety programs that reduce jobsite incidents. Stronghold excelled during this process by being able to report a year free of any incidents, allowing us to achieve Platinum level combined with the previous year’s records. We always are looking forward and will continue to work towards these goals of no safety incidents, as we continually improve together as a team.
“Safety is a journey, and that journey is possible because of systems like STEP, which enables ABC member contractors like Stronghold Engineering, Inc. to actively build health and safety into their culture, creating industry-leading, holistic safety programs to protect their workers and deliver for their clients,” said Greg Sizemore, ABC vice president of health, safety, environment and workforce development. “STEP measures performance on key components, strengthens and expands best practices and builds safety culture. Our people are our greatest asset, and I commend Stronghold Engineering, Inc. for consistently fulfilling those commitments to raise the bar of safety performance.”
According to ABC’s annual Safety Performance Report, STEP participants, regardless of company size or type of work, can reduce recordable incidents up to 85%, making the best-performing companies 688% safer than the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics industry average. Ratings range from Diamond, the highest, to Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Participant.
