Stronghold Engineering is proud to announce our project, The Repair and Alternation Tenant Improvement Project at the Edward R. Roybal Federal Building, has won a 2019 Best Projects Award of Merit from Engineering News-Record in the Renovation/Restoration category- ENR California Region. This project was a 13-floor tenant improvement of an occupied 22-Story GSA government services building, which provides many legal support functions under one roof. Construction needed to have minimal impact on community using the facility. The organizations using the building served a large public area and the building had to remain fully operational during construction. The Stronghold team designed and planned a five-phase renovation that entailed demolition, plumbing, lighting, HVAC, sprinkler system, tenant security infrastructure, fire and life safety, construction of interior walls and doors, electrical, finishes and fixtures.  Construction crews worked only during night shifts and cleaned all areas each night so that the working environment was ready for use the next day. Through proactive communication and organization, we were able to complete the project on time and within budget even with the challenging logistics and changing desires of the end-users. On October 10th, Stronghold was joined by General Services Administration and Cannon Design to accept the award from ENR. It was a great time for the team to get back together and catch up on the latest exciting projects that are going on within each entity. We are hopeful that this team will be able to work together on future award-winning projects!
