REPLACE EMERGENCY BACKUP GENERATORS

Naval Base Point Loma

San Diego, Ca

Stronghold Engineering, Inc. served as the prime contractor for this project that called for the installation of backup generators to supply emergency power to several buildings at the Naval Base Point Loma in San Diego, California. The backup generators, with Automatic Transfer Switches, provided emergency power to Building 60, one of three electrical services feeding Building 24 and the chiller plant.

Phase 1 of the basic contract required the installation of 700kW and 750kW diesel fuel generators as well as repairs and upgrades to the electrical distribution and mechanical system at building C60 and 56. Phase 2 incorporated the Navy’s accepted Option 1 design and installation of 650kW diesel fuel generator and repairs and upgrades to the electrical distribution and mechanical system for Building 24. Within the design phase, the government requested to increase the electrical output of the generator from 650kW to 750kW and called for the weather proofing to the stainless steel enclosures. Stronghold provided additional weather coating protections on the generators housing enclosure to provide additional protection due to the coastal climate.
