TACTICAL SUPPORT VAN PAD EXPANSION
Marine Corps Base
Camp Pendleton, Ca
Stronghold Engineering, Inc. served as the prime contractor for this design build project at MCAS Camp Pendleton that called for the expansion of supply van pads that will house 260 vans (double-stacked). The expansion will provide adequate, safe, and secure concrete pads to house and support 260 mobile facilities vans used for avionics, calibration, and other repairs to and operation of tactical equipment supporting aircraft maintenance of the Marine Avionics Logistical Squadron 39 (MALS) unit when in combat. The project consisted of many interesting features including a massive existing underground utility relocation, 4″ duct bank conduits feeding “Pop-up” locations around the site where Marine personnel will plug in to various power requirements for their Vans, a restroom facility for Male and Female Marines, an Air compressor and Shed, one acre of 8″ thick, reinforced concrete, site lighting, fiber and copper telco connections, and two (2) 12kV Unit Substations at 3000KVA. There is also water and air provided at the Pop-ups for tool usage with in the Vans.
