REPAIR BACHELOR ENLISTED QUARTERS BLDG 2002 COMMUNICATIONS/ALTERNATE ENERGY UPGRADE

This $9.9 million project consisted of the repair and renovation to Bachelor Enlisted Quarters (BEQ), Building 2002 at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport, California. This design build project entailed provding complete seismic and system upgrade of a 60,000 square foot three story BEQ consisting of 94 dorm rooms. Separated into two (2) phases, this project required the gutting of all interior mechanical, plumbing, electrical (MPE) and finish systems down to metal studs in order to abate all mold and lead from the facility and provide all new MPE systems and new finishes throughout the facility while keeping the facility 50% occupied. The project site, known as the most remote Marine Corps Base in the continental U.S., created several unique and significant logistical challenge for all personnel, materials and equipment deliveries, but the site project management team were able to tame the extreme weather and logistical challenges to complete this outstanding project almost three (3) months ahead of schedule, with over 81,300 man hours and with zero (0) lost time incidents.
