Ironwood State Prison HVAC system

Ironwood State Prison

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation
Blythe, California

The work on this level three prison’s HVAC system is Stronghold’s largest project to date. This project consists of constructing a chilled water plant to feed a new chilled water loop being installed throughout the Ironwood State Prison Facility, feeding new air handler units for over 90 buildings. This also includes the installation of a new Southern California Edison main electrical service and the relocation of Ironwood’s electrical service from Chuckwallas State Prison’s main service to the new dedicated main service.

Stronghold will also be replacing the site-wide fire alarm system, which will include a rapid response air aspiration smoke detection system in critical, hard to service areas and, as noted above, a complete replacement of the HVAC system at Ironwood State Prison.  Stronghold is performing as the prime contractor, with self performance of all electrical features of work including installation of new primary power for the new central plant, installation of the back up generator, cast in place concrete, framing and carpentry work, drywall installation, and final grading.
