REPLACE/UPGRADE STREET PERIMETER LIGHTING TO SOLAR PROJECT

Yermo Annex, Marine Corps Logistic Base

Yermo, Ca

This design build project for the Department of the Navy consisted of the upgrade to the existing series street and perimeter lighting system to a solar powered system at the Yermo Annex, Marine Corps Logistics Base. The new solar lighting system includes the replacement of more than 365 existing medium voltage constant site lighting fixtures with new LED type lights powered by individual Photovoltaic Panels. To prepare the electrical infrastructure, the existing 5kV overhead lines were demolished along with existing regulators. The majority of the new lights were installed onto the existing poles using special mounting brackets. In a few locations, the existing damaged poles were replaced with new fiberglass poles. Additional lighting was provided at the existing secondary gate (security station) in order to bring the illumination levels up to the current standards for a primary gate.
