San Marino, CA, 3/17/22—Stronghold Engineering today announced work on the Huntington Library Showcase Battery Project in San Marino, California has earned a national Excellence in Construction® Pyramid Award, presented during ABC Convention 2022 in San Antonio, on March 16. The EIC awards are the construction industry’s leading national competition that honors general and specialty contractors for world-class, safe and innovative construction projects from across the nation.

“We are honored to received the prestigious Pyramid Award from the ABC National Board. This project was a showcase for our team in battery installations and completed on a short timeline. We were happy with the final product and pleased to have a satisfied client. A big thank you to the ABC National Board for considering this project as Building Construction Excellence.” – Scott Bailey

The proposed scope for 880KW/3520kWh TESLA Battery Energy Storage System was a fast-paced project that consisted of installing multiple TESLA battery storage systems within the Huntington Library Botanical Gardens, located in San Marino, CA. Due to the project’s fast-tracked schedule, we began design in April of 2019, started construction in November and was completed with project close-out in December of that same year, completing the construction in just 2 short months.

“For over 32 years, ABC has been honored to award outstanding construction projects like Huntington Library Showcase Battery Project by Stronghold Engineer,” said 2022 National Chair of the ABC Board of Directors Stephanie Schmidt, president, Poole Anderson Construction, State College, Pennsylvania. “Through hard work on this project, Stronghold Engineering shows the value of teamwork, overcoming challenges and creativity on the jobsite.”

The EIC award honors all construction team members, including the contractor, owner, architect and engineer. The winning projects are judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges overcome, completion time, workmanship, innovation and safety.

A panel of industry experts served as the competition’s judges. This year’s judges included representatives from the Smithsonian Facilities Construction Division, Construction Management Association of America, Engineering News-Record, Design-Build Institute of America, University Research Institute and various construction-related firms nationwide.
