On October, 14, 2011, Stronghold was one of many to sponsor SOCKS FOR HERO’S first fundraiser. Socks for Heroes raises money to send socks to Marines in Afghanistan. Our Marines serving in Afghanistan have no laundry service. They have to wash their socks in the canals and air dry them. While normally, this may not be a problem, in Afghanistan the sand and grit gets into the socks and makes them unusable within a couple days. With over 150,000 troops fighting in Afghanistan and the need to change socks every three (3) days, our troops need a minimum of ten thousand socks per month. Socks for Heroes have sent over 30,000 pairs of socks to the Marines so far and is working hard to send more.
