PEDIATRICS ICU

Naval Medical Center

San Diego, CA

Stronghold Engineering, Inc. served as the prime contractor for this design build project that called for remodeling of the patient “Q” block to accommodate the outpatient pediatrics unit and the inpatient pediatrics ICU at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California. Part of a concurrently-executed renovation program, construction involved 15,000 sf of space and included new nurse workstations, remodeled exam and procedure rooms with medical gas columns, additional offices and a waiting area.

The project aim was to produce a facility that could compete with private sector children’s hospitals: one that is customized and tailored to the needs of children and the medical professionals who treat them, while providing a child-friendly environment where families feel comfortable and wellness and healing are enhanced. This project earned regional and national awards for its high quality and innovative partnering efforts.
