Yermo Annex, Marine Corps Logistic Base, Yermo, California
Cost: $3 Million
Status: Completed
This design build project called for the upgrade of the existing street and perimeter lighting system to a solar powered system at the Yermo Annex, Marine Corps Logistics Base in Barstow, California. The upgrade included replacing more than 365 existing medium voltage constant site lighting fixtures with new LED type lights powered by individual Photovoltaic Panels. To prepare the electrical infrastructure, the existing 5kV overhead lines had to be demolished along with existing regulators. The majority of the new lights were installed onto the existing poles using special mounting brackets. In a few locations, the existing damaged poles were replaced with new fiberglass poles. Additional lighting was provided at the existing secondary gate (security station), to bring the illumination levels up to the current standards for a primary gate.
